The foremost mission of Shaheed Udham Singh
Sabha of New York Inc. is to celebrate and perpetuate the memory and glory of
events related to Shaheed Udham Singh. Some of the events related to the Shaheed
are his birthday, December 26, the Vaisakhi Day at Jallianwala Bagh, April 13,
1919, the day he shot O Dwyer at Caxton Hall, March 13, 1940, and the day of his
Martyrdom, July 31, 1940. While remembering Shaheed Udham Singh and his
contributions to the Indian independence, our mission is to inculcate his
quality of service and sacrifice to our next generation born in America
and also to make aware of his achievements among other communities in
America.
Shaheed Udham Singh represented the best
traditions of India’s saints and soldiers, courage and spirit of self
sacrifice against oppression, striving for unity in humanity against different
ethnic, communal, religious and political groups. Shaheed Udham Singh Sabha of
New York aims, therefore, to endeavor to fulfill his dreams for the unity,
integrity, honesty and sincerity of all individuals mutually toward one another
and between the community and the government as well.
